Directing . Editing . Branding
Jim Houser is a Philadelphia-based artist. His work is so easily identified. His palette and his subtle but poignant style hits home as much as it pleases your senses. We were fortunate enough to meet with Jim just before an exhibit in one of the galleries where he first got his start. He graciously invited us into his home (which is also his studio) to give us an inside peek to his physical and mental processes. After this episode came together, we knew Alter Street would be something special.
This was a self-produced passion project. Alter Street was a bi-monthly artist documentary series in which we worked directly with artists and galleries in Philadelphia, New York and Los Angeles. Each episode in the series features a unique artist. We highlighted their process to creating their work, how they got started, their studios, and how all their work culminates in a public show. We also sold limited-edition prints that we designed and produced to help with funding more episodes.
CHALLENGE:
Being self-produced with basically zero budget, the crew volunteered their time working for food and beer. This was challenging, but also bonding in that it became everybody’s passion project.
